School Performance Plan -

 Billinghurst Middle School SIP 25-26

Billinghurst Middle School SIP 25-26 November Status Check

A school improvement plan (SIP) is a strategic and comprehensive blueprint that guides an educational institution toward achieving specific goals and enhancing student learning. It is a living document, not merely a compliance exercise, that focuses and aligns all stakeholders toward a shared vision for positive change.

ATSI Designated School - Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI)
ATSI refers to a designation given to schools under Nevada's federally-approved Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan. ATSI schools have very low-performing student subgroups that, if those subgroups' performance were considered on their own, would lead to a Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) designation.
In short, these are schools identified as needing improvement due to the consistently low performance of specific student groups.

Academic Teaming - Information

Academic teams in middle school are designed to foster a collaborative learning environment where students can receive more personalized attention and support. These teams allow teachers to better coordinate their efforts in addressing the diverse educational needs of students, enhancing both academic and social development. Additionally, academic teams help create a sense of community and belonging among students, which can improve engagement and overall school experience. Teams will meet monthly to discuss interdisciplinary instruction, student academic and social development, and events and celebrations.

GEMS -  GEMS Program

Our school aligned fully with the district’s Gifted Education Model of Support (GEMS), as designated and guided by the WCSD GATE department.
Our school is not identified as an Accelerated Advanced Placement (AAP) site. We exclusively offer the GEMS model, which is used districtwide to support the needs of GT students through intentional clustering and instruction from a Gifted and Talented (GT)-endorsed teacher(s).

iReady Diagnostic Testing Information  iready_wcsd_code_instructions.pdf

iReady is an adaptive assessment that identifies students’ strengths and opportunities for growth. That information helps determine how to best support their learning.

Student Handbook BDB_StudentHandbook25-26.pdf

The Student Handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for students, outlining the school's expectations, policies, and procedures. Its primary purpose is to create a safe, respectful, and conducive learning environment by clearly communicating the rules and responsibilities of students. The handbook also provides essential information on academic standards, extracurricular activities, disciplinary measures, and resources available to support students' educational and personal growth. It aims to foster a sense of community and accountability, helping students understand their role in maintaining a positive school culture.

Cell Phone Policy Cell PhonePolicy_25-26.pdf

As we continue to prioritize student well-being, academic focus, and a positive school climate, Billinghurst Middle School is updating its phone and personal device policy beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. This shift reflects both stakeholder feedback from our recent family and staff survey and a broader national movement to reduce screen dependency in schools.
